Gemfields releases updated ‘G-Factor for Natural Resources’ figures to 31 December 2025

Gemfields is pleased to confirm its ‘G-Factor for Natural Resources’ figures for the Kagem emerald mine in Zambia and Montepuez Ruby Mining in Mozambique, which now stand at 17% and 26% respectively for the 10-year period from 2016 through 2025. The ‘G-Factor for Natural Resources’ reveals the percentage of natural resource revenue paid to the government of the host country in the form of mineral royalties, corporation tax and, where the relevant government is a shareholder, dividends.

Gemfields announces the results of an auction comprised of higher-quality rough emeralds held during the period 25 August – 11 September 2025. Highlights: August-September 2025 Higher-Quality Emerald Auction Total auction revenues of USD 32.0 million 38 lots were offered for sale, of which all were sold (100%) Average realised price of USD 160.78 per carat The 52 auctions of Kagem gemstones held since July 2009 have generated USD 1,122 million in total revenues The auction included an exceptional gemstone named Imboo (‘buffalo’), weighing 11,685 carats. Imboo is the latest, and largest, remarkable gemstone discovered at the Kagem mine.
Kagem to recommence focused open-pit mining

Gemfields is pleased to announce that Kagem Mining Limited (“Kagem”), the emerald mine in Zambia which is 75% owned by Gemfields and 25% owned by the Government of the Republic of Zambia through the Industrial Development Corporation of Zambia (“IDC”), will shortly recommence a programme of focused open-pit mining to recover more premium emeralds.

Gemfields is pleased to announce the results of a mini-auction held from 19 to 21 February 2025 of previously unsold higher-quality emeralds from the November 2024 auction. Zambia Update: 15% Export Duty Suspended

Further to the announcement made by the Company on 8 January 2025, Gemfields is pleased to announce that the Honourable Minister of Finance of Zambia, Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane, has suspended the 15% export duty on precious gemstones and metals by issuing Statutory Instrument No. 4 of 2025 on 18 February 2025 (the Customs and Excise (Precious Stones and Metals) (Export Duty) (Suspension) Order). This suspension is effective immediately.
Zambia re-introduces 15% export duty on emeralds

Gemfields has become aware that a new statutory instrument in Zambia dated 30 December 2024 and which came into effect on 1 January 2025 (S.I. No. 88 of 2024, the Customs and Excise (Precious Stones) (Export Duty) (Suspension) (Revocation) Order, 2024) has revoked the 2019 suspension of a 15% export duty on precious gemstones. This directly impacts the Zambian emeralds mined by Kagem Mining Limited (“Kagem”) which is 75% owned by Gemfields and 25% owned by the Zambian Government’s Industrial Development Corporation.

Following Gemfields’ most recent emerald and ruby auctions (the results of which were published on 22 November and 12 December 2024 respectively), the Group announces that it has taken, and will continue to undertake, actions to cut costs and streamline business activity amid four key challenges being encountered concurrently, while maintaining focus on the Group’s principal growth project, completion of the second ruby processing plant at Montepuez Ruby Mining Limitada in Mozambique (“MRM”).
